BACKGROUND Helichrysum, from the Greek “helios” for sun and “chrysos” for gold, is one of the world's most sought-after essential oils. Native to coastal France, Italy, and Croatia, the delicate flowers bloom in rocky soils before a painstakingly careful harvest. Global exploitation of the botanical led Young Living to import rocks to our Dalmatia Aromatic Farm in Split, Croatia, where we replicate its preferred environment and cultivate the previously wildcrafted blossoms. Also known as “Immortelle,” or “the Everlasting Flower,” Helichrysum has a unique chemistry that provides several skin care benefits, whether added to your facial moisturizer or applied directly to the skin as desired.

KEY CONSTITUENTS *Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Neryl acetate
  • Gamma-curcumene
  • Alpha-pinene

HELICHRYSUM & EMOTIONS Helichrysum is called "honey for the psyche" because of its lightly sweet scent and its ability to help soothe the effects of trauma on our emotions.

For our purposes, trauma can be defined as “any situation where you got less than you needed and were not equipped to process it.” These traumas actually get stored deep within our cellular memory, often without us even being aware. But our bodies have a grand design!

The limbic system of the brain contains the hypothalamus and the amygdala and is primarily responsible for our emotional life. It also controls functions including adrenaline flow, behavior, motivation, long-term memory, and olfaction. Our olfactory (smell) sense is almost directly connected to the limbic system because the olfactory nerve ends there. This means that inhaling essential oils can have a profound effect on our mood, emotions and emotional processing.

Helichrysum has some unique emotional benefits, including releasing emotional trauma as it helps the brain recover repressed memories or hidden truths both past and present. It is gentle yet powerful when used alongside other tools such as prayer, therapy, meditation and nervous system therapy.

Helichrysum is also calming to the Sympathetic Nervous System, making it a wonderful emotional tool for fear, anger, frustration and suppressed emotions.
